Nika Lilek, born in December 1990, took her first dance steps at the moDuS Dance Club, founded by her mother, Snježana Lilek. She explores, creates, and works as a mentor to young dancers. After graduating from the Secondary School for Classical Ballet in Zagreb in 2007, she continuously pursued further education and professional development in an international context (traveling to New York for the Alvin Ailey Summer Intensive, as well as participating in various projects and seminars across Europe). In 2014, she became a member of the Zagreb Dance Ensemble under the direction of Snježana Abramović, and later Petra Glad. In 2017, she joined the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka under the direction of Maša Kolar; and in 2019, she became a member of the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company in Israel under the direction of Rami Be’er. She has collaborated with many choreographers, including Rami Be’er, Staša Zurovac, Maša Kolar, Adonis Foniadakis, Mauro Bigonzetti, Giuseppe Spota, Miloš Isailović, Roberto Olivan, Snježana Abramović, Marjana Krajač, Matija Ferlin, and others. She has participated in the creation of numerous projects and performances, including works for the Šibenik Dance Festival, the original duet NN by Nika and Nastija Chesun, and the solo piece Fae, created together with Michal Vacha. As part of the Dance Journey program under the guidance of the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, she created the short dance project This Did Something To Me. In August 2022, she returned to Croatia, where she continues her journey as a freelance artist and dance educator at the moDuS Dance Club. In 2023, she rejoined the Zagreb Dance Ensemble as an external collaborator for the project Gran Bolero by choreographer Jesús Rubio Gamo and began the original project Race Against Time together with her sister Luna Lilek. In 2024, she once again joined the Zagreb Dance Ensemble as an external collaborator for the performance Where All Souls Go by Miloš Isailović. In 2025, she created another original performance together with her sister Luna Lilek and artist Laura Vragović titled I Will Dream Awake, and also completed a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. In the summer of 2025, she participated in the performance Othello by Maša Kolar, co-produced by the Croatian National Theatres of Varaždin, Split, and Dubrovnik. She continues to share her love for dance and explore creativity with young dancers; to be part of the creative team of moDuS, support dancers in their growth and dance education, participate in artistic creations, and enjoy various dance collaborations. She is proud of the many dancers whose journeys she has been a part of, and who continue to grow in the dance world, academies, and the dance scene, becoming wonderful young and accomplished individuals.
